In the rugged terrain of Red Mountain, Colorado, the landscape tells a tale of iron-stained earth and glittering quartz. This dirt, rich with history and minerals, is a treasure for any prospector. The material, easy to pan, reveals the legacy of the miners who once toiled here.

Back in the 1870s, gold seekers scoured the area, but it wasn’t until the silver discoveries of 1882 that Red Mountain truly came to life. The town, nestled between Silverton and Ouray, became a bustling hub in the Red Mountain Pass mining district. Alongside neighboring towns like Ironton, Guston, Sweetville, Rogerville, and Park City, Red Mountain Town thrived, connected by the narrow-gauge Silverton Railroad that transported precious ore.

The early days were challenging. The first townsite, chosen in the spring when the ground was still frozen, turned into an uninhabitable marsh as the temperatures rose. The town had to be relocated, a testament to the resilience of its inhabitants.

Today, the dirt from Red Mountain carries the essence of this history. Stained with iron and sparkling with quartz, it is a reminder of the harsh yet rewarding life of the miners. As you sift through this material, imagine the stories of those who once walked these lands, their backs dusted with the same earth, their eyes set on the promise of silver and gold.  You will always have a guaranteed amount of gold from 1 gram to .25 of a gram of gold. This is an easy and for beginner type paydirt, that is not just playsand. But a dirt with a past, a historical past. And was collected and prospecting, by myself and family for you to enjoy! And the bags will have a 1 lb for the one and half gram, and 8 ounces for the quarter gram bag. I hope you enjoy this light and fun paydirt.
